Rainbow Health’s 33rd Annual Walk to End HIV Sunday, May 15, 2022
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Rainbow Health Minnesota to hold its 33rd Annual Walk to End HIV on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at Minnehaha Park in Minneapolis
The 33rd Annual Walk to End HIV is set to occur Sunday, May 15, 2022, 1-5 p.m., at Minnehaha Regional Park. Donations to the event support Rainbow Health’s mission to work for equitable health care access and outcomes for people who experience injustice at the intersection of health status and identity. The organization focuses on providing support and resources to community members at-risk or living with HIV or facing barriers to equitable health care access and outcomes because of their gender, sexual, HIV status or racial identity.
This iconic community event remembers Minnesotans who lost their battle with HIV, raises support for all affected by HIV and brings people together in community to increase awareness about HIV. It will feature special speakers and performances, food trucks, sponsors, exhibitors and entertainment. Sponsorship and exhibitor opportunities are available now.
The Walk to End HIV started as the Minnesota AIDS Walk in 1988 with the first event held at Minnehaha Regional Park. Since then, the walk has raised millions to support HIV prevention and care initiatives in Minnesota.
Each year, the Walk raises financial support for services that help people living with HIV including housing, transportation, assistance with health insurance and legal services, among others. An estimated 300 Minnesotans are infected with HIV every year in Minnesota in all parts of the state. Approximately 2,500 Minnesotans living with HIV are not connected to the medical care necessary to keep them healthy and enable them to live long, healthy lives.
Teams, individual participants, sponsors and exhibitors can sign up to join the walk or donate at mnwalktoendhiv.org.
