What is MNsure?
MNsure is the online marketplace Minnesotans can use to assess their eligibility for public health programs and private health insurance subsidies. The website contains a uniform application that assesses a person’s eligibility for certain types of health insurance including Medical Assistance (MA), MinnesotaCare (MCRE), and subsidies that can be used toward purchasing a private health insurance plan. You can also enroll directly into a private health insurance plan on MNsure, regardless of your eligibility for a subsidy. MNsure is the only “one-stop-shop” for comparing multiple health insurance options (www.mnsure.org ).
What can I apply for using MNsure?
The MNsure application only determines eligibility for health insurance. For questions about food stamps, cash assistance, housing assistance, emergency assistance, or other social services, please contact your local county office.
When can I use MNsure?
MNsure may be used for enrollment in public programs at any time. These programs include Medical Assistance (MA) and MinnesotaCare (MCRE). MNsure may only be used for enrollment in private plans during specific periods of time, including during Open Enrollment or within sixty days of a qualifying life event (either before or after the event). Open Enrollment dates are TBD. For more information about Open Enrollment or qualifying life events, please contact our MNsure intake line at 612-373-2466.
Am I eligible to use MNsure?
Most Minnesotans are eligible to apply for health insurance using the MNsure application. However, some people cannot use MNsure due to age, disability status, access to other insurance, immigration status, or other situational factors.
